All About Louvered Grilles and Registers

Shoemaker louver grilles are highly aesthetic and easy to install. Grilles are available for surface, T-Bar, or spiral mount with adjustable blades or for surface or T-Bar mount with fixed blades. Shoemaker Mfg also manufactures louvered filter grilles with 1", 2" or 4" filter depths.

  • Louvered surface mount grilles are available in a variety of sizes, including fractional, exact OD, and exact ID.
  • Surface mount grilles come with countersunk mounting holes and color matching Philips Pozidriv screws.

T-Bar

T-Bar

  • Louvered T-Bar grilles are available in 1x1, 1x2, 2x2, or 2x4 panel sizes.
  • The louvered face can be the whole T-Bar panel or a smaller louvered grille in a blank T-bar panel.
  • Louvered T-Bar filter grilles are standard with a 2" filter depth but a 1" or 4" filter depth may also be available.

Q: I have a competitor’s louvered grille that I am trying to match. How can I find out what the Shoemaker Mfg. equivalent is?


A: Use our handy Cross Reference.

Q: Do all louvered grilles have fixed blades?


A: Shoemaker offers adjustable louvered grilles. The 901, 902, 931, and 932 are adjustable single deflection. The 903, 904, 933, and 934 are adjustable double deflection.

Q: What does double deflection mean?


A: Double deflection refers to the two sets of blades on the grille. One set is horizontal and the other is vertical.

Q: I installed my filter grille and now I can see up into the duct. Is there something else I should have ordered to prevent this?


A: No, the door on the filter grille is reversible. You can remove the filter grille door, turn it around and hang it on the hinges on the new side.

Q: All filter grilles have the hinges on the long side. Does Shoemaker have an option of a filter grille with the hinges on the short side?


A: Shoemaker filter grilles are standard with the hinges on the long side. However, on our surface mount filter grilles, there is an option to change the hinge placement. Please see the FG Hinge Options brochure for more details.
